According to reports, the attackers verbally abused the Chassidim with antisemitic slurs and physically assaulted them solely for being Jewish. A complaint was filed with the NYPD, and the victims hope that the perpetrators will be apprehended.
The assault is the latest in a disturbing series of antisemitic incidents across the United States. It follows other recent attacks, including a shooting in California targeting a Jewish home decorated with Chanukah symbols.
The incident comes amid growing concern for Jewish safety worldwide. In recent remarks, President Donald Trump called on American Jews to “celebrate Chanukah with pride,” emphasizing that Jews should stand strong and unafraid in their Jewish identity.
“They don’t need to worry. They need to celebrate proudly and be proud of who they are,” Trump said.
