The IDF struck Hezbollah terror targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district on Sunday afternoon, following rocket fire launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel earlier in the day.

In a joint statement, the offices of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced:

“In accordance with the directive of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz, the IDF has struck terrorist command centers in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut in response to Hezbollah fire directed at Israeli territory.”

The strike came after Hezbollah launched rockets toward northern Israel on Sunday morning, marking the first such attack since the ceasefire announcement made in Washington.

At approximately 7:50 a.m., sirens sounded in the northern communities of Metula and Misgav Am. About 40 minutes later, additional alerts were activated in Ramot Naftali and Yiftach. Following the second wave of alerts, the IDF reported that two projectiles crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory had been intercepted.

Metula Regional Council head David Azoulay welcomed the response:

“Finally, it is happening. This strike should have been carried out long ago, but better late than never,” he said.

Azoulay expressed hope that the operation would establish a new security reality in which any attack on Israel would trigger a forceful response.

“Whether the fire is directed at Metula, Shtula, Nahariya, Haifa, or Tel Aviv, the objective must remain clear: the disarmament of Hezbollah and the restoration of security and quiet to Israel’s northern border.”
