Israel’s Home Front Command announced Monday evening that it is tightening civilian security guidelines for communities along the northern confrontation line over the next 24 hours, amid growing concerns of further escalation following continued Hezbollah drone attacks from Lebanon.
Under the updated guidelines, the confrontation line communities, along with the areas of Meron, Bar Yochai, Or HaGanuz, and Safsufa, will remain under a “partial activity” status. The most significant change involves public gatherings and services, which will now be limited to up to 50 people outdoors and 200 people indoors – a sharp reduction from the previous limits of 200 outdoors and 600 indoors.
Educational activities were officially left unchanged, except for communities already listed under special restrictions. However, several local authorities in northern Israel announced Monday night that schools would either move to Zoom learning or close temporarily due to fears of continued explosive drone infiltrations from Lebanon.
The tighter restrictions follow a series of drone incidents reported across northern Israel in recent days. According to reports, one explosive drone detonated near a children’s transportation stop on the main road in the community of Shomera. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Israeli officials have warned in recent days that Hezbollah has increased its use of explosive UAVs against military positions and border areas, prompting renewed security assessments by the IDF and Home Front Command.
