Thursday early morning marked the beginning of war in Ukraine. The Jewish residents of the country’s capital Kyiv awoke to sounds of explosions and sirens all over town. Many Jews are located in towns close to the border and are waiting to be extracted from the country.

Chaos abounds with bombings and artillery shellings in the background while many residents are attempting escape, creating long traffic jams at the city’s exits – further increasing the chaos.

Rabbi Yonatan Markovich, a longtime Shliach in Kyiv, has initiated a humanitarian aid mission for the thousands of Jewish people of the city, including the elderly and families with small children, who are located at the forefront of the war and need urgent assistance with food, medications, and extractions from the city.

“We have removed those we could from Kyiv in advance; there are still thousands of Jewish refugees who are still in the shadow of the war’s bombs, and they need us”, says Rabbi Markovitz.

Don’t sit on the sidelines, let us all help the Chabad Aid organization in Kyiv to assist Ukraine’s Jews in their time of need.
