The father of Hatomim Menachem Mendel Leon, who has been held in Military Prison 10 for the past ten days after returning from Kvutzah, as reported Here, has issued an emotional public appeal calling for his son’s immediate release.
In his statement, the father questions the lack of public calls from Chabad Rabbonim demanding the release of the Bochurim arrested at Ben Gurion Airport. He contrasts the silence, as he sees it, with the widespread calls within the community ahead of the elections to hold Farbrengens in support of the government’s stability.
“When it comes to a Jew who is distant, people move heaven and earth to bring him closer to his Father in Heaven. But when it comes to a Chassidishe Bochur, one of our own, where is the command, ‘Do not ignore your own flesh and blood’?” the father asks. “Temimim, sons of the Rebbe — where is everyone?”
The appeal comes as the second to last Bochur arrested in the incident was released last week, while Menachem Mendel remains in custody after ten days in Military Prison 10.
His father is urging Anash and the wider Chabad community to speak up and take action toward securing his son’s release.
