Have you ever wondered about how it could be the Abraham did a Circumcision at age 99? Could it really be? Well… this Thursday a record will be made, with a Bris for a man at age 96, perhaps the oldest to have a traditional Circumcision since Abraham had his 3,736 year ago.

The Jewish Russian Community Centre of Ontario (JRCC) will host a Bris Milah for Armin Konn, born 1926 this Thursday.

This week a Jewish man, 96-year-old, WWII veteran, who had his friends killed because they were Circumcised and as such inedited as Jews by the Nazis, will have a Circumcision!

Armin Konn, born 1926 in Ukraine under the oppression of the communist regime, fought with the Partisans in 1942-43. He then served in the Red Army air force until his plane was downed over Lithuania in 1944, and spent the rest of the war in a Nazi prison camp.

Armin has not been circumcised as a child, due to the communist oppression of religion. He will be undergoing a circumcision arranged by the Jewish Russian Community Centre (JRCC), after a doctor cleared him to do so.

Just in time for May 8-9, Armin will celebrate his personal victory over evil, in all its forms – be it physical oppression and annihilation (the Nazis) or spiritual religious antisemitic hatred.

The circumcision will be taking place alongside another, the bris of Rabbi Zaltzman’s newly born son, Thursday, May 4.
