Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim of Napierville traveled to the beautiful vacation town of S. Agathe in the Laurentian Mountains for Shavuos, where they stayed with the Rebbe’s shliach, Rabbi Emanuel Carlibach. Their goal was to bring light, joy, and the warmth of Torah and Chassidus to the local Jewish community and to the many visitors who come to the area during the holiday season.
The community there is unique and diverse — made up of local residents alongside many tourists who come specifically for weekends and Yomim Tovim. Together, they experienced an uplifting and inspiring Shavuos filled with authentic Jewish and Chassidic warmth. From the very moment the bochurim arrived, one could already feel a special atmosphere of unity, joy, and spiritual inspiration.
Between Rabbi Yehuda Dahan and Rabbi Carlibach, there exists a friendship and close relationship spanning more than 22 years, dating back to when the yeshiva first opened in S. Agathe. Two years later, due to the tremendous growth and expansion of the yeshiva, it relocated to Napierville, where it continues to raise students deeply rooted in yiras Shamayim, ahavas haTorah, and strong hiskashrus to the Rebbe.
Throughout the entire Yom Tov, the presence of the temimim could be felt everywhere. They did not come merely as guests, but as true shluchim, with sincere dedication and a genuine desire to spread holiness and positivity. The bochurim participated in the extensive preparations for Yom Tov, helped prepare and organize the meals, attended to the needs of the guests and community members, and carried out every task with joy, enthusiasm, and warm smiles.
During Yom Tov, the bochurim delivered inspiring Divrei Torah, learned one-on-one with members of the community and mispalalim, and spent many hours connecting with Jews of all backgrounds and ages — young and old alike — approaching each person with genuine Chassidic warmth and Ahavas Yisroel. Many people were deeply moved by the bochurim’s sincerity, refinement, and respectful conduct toward every individual they encountered.
One of the most emotional moments was the niggunim gathering, held in a uniquely uplifting Chassidic atmosphere. The melodies came straight from the heart, and many participants were swept into a powerful spiritual experience. Some shared that they had not felt such inspiration and inner joy in a very long time. One could see genuine emotion and even tears of holiness and happiness on the faces of those present.
Rabbi Carlibach himself farbrenged for many hours throughout the Yom Tov, sharing words of encouragement, Chassidic stories, and inspiration in preparation for receiving the Torah with joy and pnimius. The farbrengens continued late into the night in a deeply uplifting atmosphere, with the bochurim and guests sitting together כאיש אחד בלב אחד.
After Yom Tov, several members of the community personally contacted Rabbi Dahan to express their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful bochurim and for the tremendous positive impact they had on the entire atmosphere of the community. They spoke with admiration about the bochurim’s noble behavior, smiles, joy, seriousness in learning, and the love and care they showed every Jew they met.
There is no doubt that the temimim created a tremendous Kiddush Hashem and a beautiful Kiddush Shem Lubavitch. They demonstrated how yeshiva bochurim can combine deep dedication to Torah learning with genuine Ahavas Yisroel and heartfelt concern for every fellow Jew.
Everyone returned to yeshiva with an overwhelming sense of fulfillment, uplifted spirits, and hearts filled with gratitude for the great privilege of serving as shluchim to spread the light of Torah and Chassidus. There was a strong feeling among all of them that they had brought tremendous nachas to the Rebbe, through unity, joy, and authentic Chassidic energy in preparation for the time of Matan Torah.
