The delegation met with Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, Chief Rabbi and the Rebbe’s Shliach to Kazakhstan, and Jewish community chairman Albert Shimony. They toured the Chabad-Lubavitch Jewish Center, learned about the growing Jewish community across Kazakhstan, and were introduced to the extensive Jewish activities taking place throughout the country.

Rabbi Cohen shared the story of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson and his extraordinary Mesirus Nefesh for Soviet Jewry under the Communist regime.

Deborah Shimony impressed the delegation by speaking with them in both English and French and sharing her perspective on Jewish communal life as a member of the younger generation.

The visit concluded at the Ohel of Reb Levi Yitzchak, where the delegation prayed for peace and security in the United States, Kazakhstan, Israel and around the world, as well as for the continued success and growth of the Jewish community.
