The massive fire that engulfed the main Shul and the magnificent Hachnasas Orchim center adjacent to the Alter Rebbe’s Ohel on Leil Shabbos, just one day after Tisha B’Av, left nothing standing.
The holy complex was completely consumed by the flames, leaving behind little more than ashes and rubble.
The catastrophic damage is estimated at millions of dollars, and the complex has been completely destroyed.
Yet, as Chassidim know well, “Bamayim lo nitba, u’va’eish lo nisraf”—we are not overcome by water or consumed by fire. As the Rebbe taught us, we rise from the ashes and immediately begin rebuilding, restoring what was lost with even greater strength, beauty, and splendor.
“וּבָאֵשׁ אַתָּה עָתִיד לִבְנוֹתָהּ” – “U’va’eish Atah asid livnosah”
Through the fire, You will ultimately rebuild it.
The campaign to rebuild the holy complex is now underway, and the Chabad community is being called upon to join this urgent effort and help restore this sacred site.
The names of all donors and their loved ones will be mentioned in prayer at the holy resting place of the Alter Rebbe for whatever they may need.
