Just days after the devastating fire that destroyed the Shul, Beis Medrash, and Hachnosas Orchim complex adjacent to the Ohel of the Alter Rebbe in Haditch, a group of Shluchim from across Ukraine made a special trip to the city to offer support and encouragement to the local Shliach and Rav, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Deitch.
Among those who participated were Rabbi Motti Levenhertz and Rabbi Daniel Lanao of Kyiv, who arrived together with their children; Rabbi Shlomo Solomon of Kremenchuk; Rabbi Moshe Weber of Dnipro; and Rabbi Dov Axelrod of Cherkasy, accompanied by his son-in-law, Rabbi Yaakov Landau of Toronto.
Rabbi Weber explained the purpose of the visit: “We came for one reason—to strengthen and be strengthened, and to encourage our dear friend, Rabbi Deitsch. It is heartbreaking to witness such destruction. We felt as though our own home had burned down. When something like this happens, as Chassidim we understand that it is a message from Above, calling on us to increase our activities, each in our own community, and, of course, here in Haditch as well.”
The rebuilding campaign for the historic complex continues, with Anash around the world being encouraged to partner in constructing a new and even greater center in honor of the Alter Rebbe.
