In the middle of Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport – a major transit hub station and one of Africa’s busiest airports – sits a Chabad House managed by the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Ethiopia, Rabbi Eliyahu Habib. The use of the Shul is essential for Yidden transiting through the airport

Last week a new Sefer Torah was dedicated to the Shul in memory of Mrs. Moshe Indig a”h. The tahalucha started at the Banin Sefer synagogue and continued to the Shul at the airport.

Rabbi Habib sees this as a major expansion of Chabad activities for the locals as well as thousands of tourists and businesspeople who flock to the region. In addition, Chabad of Ethiopia is expanding with a new campus. The 3,000 square-meter (32,000 square-foot) new campus will include a Shul, a hall, guest rooms, a Kosher restaurant, Mikvah, preschool and more.
