Five Years in Prison for the Man Who Stabbed a Jewish Student Near 770
About a year and several months after the Stabbing Attack in Crown Heights, the sentence was handed down today: the assailant — a young African-American man — was convicted of attempting to murder a student from the Central Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva at 770 and sentenced to five years in prison. The incident took place on Friday night, the eve of 7 Menachem Av, 5784 (August 2024), around two o’clock in the morning. The victim, Hatomim Yechiel Michoel Dubroskin of Kfar Chabad, was standing with friends at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue when a young African-American man passed by. During a brief confrontation, the attacker shouted “Free Palestine,” asked one of the students, “Do you want to die?” — and then stabbed him.
The injured student was evacuated to the hospital, treated for moderate wounds, and released shortly afterward. He has since returned to his studies.
The attacker was arrested shortly after the incident by the NYPD and was initially charged with attempted murder and a hate crime. Following lengthy legal proceedings, the court this week sentenced him to five years in prison.
