We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Reb Chaim Shimon Marks, OBM, who became a Lubavitcher Chossid and was active in the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim and Mivtza Kashrus, in particular.
He was 66.
A Native of Porto Rico, when he was a teenager became a Baal Teshuvah. He started studying in Yeshivas Ohr Someach, and later became a Chabad Chossid.
He learned in a number of Chabad Yeshivos including in, Morristown, Burnoy and Hadar Hatorah in Crown Heights.
As a bochur he was active in printing Rebbe’s Mitzvah of printing Tanya’s.
After getting married to his wife Simcha, he was active in the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim and Mivtza Kashrus, in particular.
He lived in a number of cities including Providence, RI; Worcester, Massachusetts; and most recently in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York.
He is survived by his wife, Simcha Marks, and their children Rabbi Yitzchak Marks – Yerres, France; Leah Nagar – Toms River, NJ; Sima Cohen – Crown Heights; Shaya Marks – Manhattan, NY; Sheina Marks – Flatbush, NY; Esther Glanstein – Woodburn, NJ; Mendy Marks – Monsey, NJ; and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his father, Mordechai Yaakov Marks, and his sister, Andria Berkowitz.
The levaya will take place in Crown Heights on Thursday, passing by 770 at 10:45 AM, and continuing on to Yerushalayim, where the burial will be held on Friday morning.
