Initiative Aims to Complete Shas on Flights to the Kinus
As thousands of Shluchim travel to New York for the Kinus Hashluchim, a new initiative is encouraging them to complete the entire Shas together during their flights • Full story
With thousands of Shluchim making their way to New York for the Kinus Hashluchim, one Shliach has launched a project that channels the long hours in the air into Torah learning.
Through a dedicated online platform titled “Completing All of Shas on Flights to the Kinus Hashluchim,” participants can take part in a collective effort to finish the entire Shas over the course of their travels.
The Kinus, the largest annual gathering of the Rebbe’s Shluchim, opens this Wednesday in Crown Heights, drawing Shluchim from every corner of the world for days of chizuk and renewed kochos for their Shlichus.
The project is the brainchild of Rabbi Sharon Goshen, a Shliach in Rishon LeTzion, Eretz Yisroel. Each participant registers online, selects a masechta and a daf of Gemara, and commits to learning it aboard the flight, both on the way to the Kinus and on the journey back home.
With Shas Bavli spanning 2,711 dapim, and thousands of Shluchim each covering a daf or two, the entire Shas can be completed within a single round trip, turning travel time into a shared undertaking of Torah, with each traveler contributing his portion toward the collective siyum.
Rabbi Goshen serves in Rishon LeTzion’s Rambam neighborhood, the city’s largest and oldest, and directs the activities and Shlichus department at the city’s central Beis Chabad.
