A man in his 30s was murdered Sunday in a shooting attack near the community of Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin region. The terrorist opened fire from a passing vehicle toward the Ein Ria spring, also known as Ein Banba, near the community, striking a man who was inside his vehicle.
MDA teams who were called to the scene provided the victim with life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him to Beilinson Hospital. His condition was critical, and he later succumbed to his wounds. The victim was identified as Netanel Shukrun HY”D, a father of six who had arrived at the spring with his son for Mikvah ahead of Yom Kippur.
According to the IDF, following the shooting, the terrorist exited his vehicle while armed and fled on foot toward the Arab village of Deir Nidham. Large forces of the IDF and Israel Police, including Duvdevan commandos and troops from the Binyamin Brigade, were rushed to the area, established roadblocks, and launched a manhunt for the terrorist.
During the searches, drones and aerial means were used, while the forces imposed a closure on the village toward which the terrorist had fled.
The terrorist was later wounded by an IDF tracker who opened fire as he fled the scene. He managed to reach a hospital near Ramallah, where Duvdevan forces, acting on Shin Bet intelligence, captured him alive several hours after the attack.
Ein Banba was established in memory of IDF Colonel Yitzchak Ben-Bashat, HY”D, a resident of Neve Tzuf who fell during the Iron Swords War.
