From Jazz School to 770: Chabad Composer Nadav Kerem Releases New Nigun

After studying at the Shtriker School in northern Tel Aviv, Kerem eventually found himself studying at Tomchei Temimim in Ramat Aviv. As his connection to Yiddishkeit and the Rebbe developed, he discovered a new musical direction: bringing together Chabad nigunim with the world of jazz and improvisation.
“I felt that something was missing,” Kerem recalls. “As I became more connected to Yiddishkeit and the Rebbe, I realized that I also had a direction for the music I love so much—the connection between Chabad nigunim and jazz and improvisation.”
Kerem now performs with a talented trio featuring pianist Elad Tal and bassist Noam Karin, with Kerem himself on drums.
The group is releasing its first nigun, “KaChomer Beyad Hayotzer,” from an upcoming album featuring 11 nigunim, appropriately titled “HaBeinoni.”
With the month of Elul approaching and the King entering the field, listeners are invited to welcome the season with Kerem’s new nigun, combining Chabad melody, drumming and song.
