R’ Arkeh Tzivin, a longtime Crown Heights resident and owner of the House of Glatt butcher shop, passed away on Friday, Erev Shabbos, 11 Tammuz 5786. He was 69.
Born and raised in Kfar Chabad, Arkeh was married to Guggie (née Duchman). After succeeding his father-in-law, R’ Yisroel Duchman OBM, in 1980, he spent nearly four decades operating House of Glatt on Kingston Avenue, serving the community with dedication and integrity.
Under his leadership, House of Glatt became a Crown Heights landmark. Beyond providing families with their Shabbos and Yom Tov needs, Arkeh was known for his friendly smile and quiet acts of kindness, often helping those in need with dignity. When the store changed ownership in 2018, many reflected on the lasting impact he had made on the community.
Arkeh was also known for his open home, hosting many guests, and was frequently seen learning at Chevra Shas on Kingston Avenue. In recent years, he and his wife moved to the Five Towns.
He is survived by his wife Guggie Tzivin, and children, Grunie Tzivin – Yerushalayim, Riki Gaerman – Five Towns, Rosie Tzivin – Five Towns, Sroly Tzivin – Little Rock, Arkansas, and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers Motti Tzivin and Note Tzivin of Kfar Chabad and sister Naomi Arieli of Yerushalayim.
The Levaya will take place Sunday, passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 2:30 PM and burial at Old Montefiore Cemetery at 3:30 PM.
