Tragedy in Lod: Five-Year-Old Passes Away After Being Left in Hot Car

With profound sorrow, the tragic passing of young Betzalel David Giller, OBM, has been announced. He was the son of Rabbi Menashe Giller, a prominent Chabad Chassid in the Chabad neighborhood of Lod.
The five-year-old was rushed to the Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in critical condition while CPR was being performed, after being left in a vehicle and later found in critical condition. Unfortunately, just minutes later, the hospital was forced to declare his passing.
Lod Mayor Yair Revivo said: “I received with profound sorrow and great pain the devastating news of the tragic death of a five-year-old child from the city’s Chabad community, after he was left in a vehicle. There are no words that can describe the magnitude of this tragedy, and there are no words that can truly comfort a family that has lost its most precious possession. On behalf of myself and the city administration, I send my heartfelt condolences to the family and embrace them during this difficult and unimaginable time.
“Alongside the profound mourning, this terrible tragedy compels us all to stop and remember: During these hot days, in the scorching month of August, a closed vehicle can become a life-threatening trap within minutes. Never leave a child in a vehicle—not even for a moment. Protect our children. Protect those dear to you. Our hearts are with the family. May his memory be a blessing.”
The levayah took take place today (Sunday) at 6:00 p.m. at the children’s section of the Lod cemetery.
May it be G-d’s will that the prophecy, “Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust,” be fulfilled immediately, and that he be among those who arise.
