During the conference, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir presented a strategic overview alongside a firm message on command norms and values.
Addressing the operational situation, Zamir said the military remains engaged in a multi-front campaign and is working to establish a new security reality. He noted that forward defensive zones have been set in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon, stressing that forces must remain in those areas until long-term security for Israeli communities is ensured.
Zamir added that current diplomatic negotiations led by the political leadership, are taking place on three fronts: Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza, and are based on the military’s achievements. He said operations against Iran reached “unprecedented achievements” and removed emerging existential threats, highlighting coordinated efforts with the United States military.
On Lebanon, he stated that fighting will continue until the security of northern communities is guaranteed, and warned that 2026 could remain a year of sustained conflict across multiple arenas.
Turning to internal matters, Zamir emphasized the need to expand manpower, calling it “the order of the hour,” and said all sectors of Israeli society must share the burden of service. He also reaffirmed that women are an integral part of the IDF, stating there will be no exclusion of women and that their integration is both a moral and operational necessity.
Zamir addressed recent ethical concerns, including alleged looting and the use of social media by soldiers. He described any looting as “despicable” and said such incidents would be investigated. He also set a clear boundary against using social media for controversial messaging or self-promotion while in uniform, calling it a “red line.”
During his remarks, Zamir held up a Moshiach patch and sharply criticized the phenomenon, asking commanders, “Is this how you want our army to look? This is a value-based rebellion in the IDF.”
He concluded by stressing that political discourse will not be allowed within the ranks, saying the military must act according to clear values and remain focused on its mission to defend Israel.
