Ahron Gluck, has announced his candidacy for the the Democratic primary for NYS Assembly district 43, to represent the greater Crown Heights and East Flatbush neighborhoods, positioning himself as a young community activist focused on neighborhood engagement, coalition-building, and local participation in the political legislative process shaping our community.

Ahron and his family reside in Crown Heights, he is a local small business owner and an energetic activist known among community members for building relationships by attending community board meetings rolling up his sleeve to advocate for Crown Heights.

Gluck is running against incumbent Assemblyman Brian Cunningham, who silenced our voices in the local government and has rarely ever stood up with action for the Jewish community on the issues our neighborhood and district faces, including Cunningham’s full support of The over saturated amount of Homeless shelters, the proposed Kingston and Brooklyn Aves protected bike lanes, and our Assemblyman’s refusal to take any action regarding stopping the: attempted destruction of Kingsbrook Shul, proposed MTA city bus route on Albany Avenue which will endanger all ULY students, and the attacks from Albany against our Yeshivas among other important challenges our community is faced with.

Now during a non-presidential primary (and a non-Gubernatorial primary without any real statewide challengers) which historically is a much lower voter turnout, we have more than enough voter eligible Lubavitchers and can make history for our community by electing one of our very own.

Crown Heights has a proud and historic Jewish community with deep roots, strong educational institutions, and a tradition of civic engagement. From families raising children here, to yeshivas, shuls, small businesses, and organizations, the Jewish community plays a central role in the life and character of Assembly district 43.

Ahron Gluck’s vision for Assembly member is grounded in ensuring that the voices and needs of together both the Jewish and African American residents of Crown Heights and East Flatbush are fully represented within the Democratic Party in state government.

Yeshivas

1. Clear Communication With the Community

Many residents feel that the Democratic party decisions of changes to Crown Heights and East Flatbush happened without sufficient outreach to local residents. A core priority is improving communication — making sure that information about proposals from New York State and New York City reaches local families, rabbanim, activists, and community leaders in a timely and transparent way so that the community can have proper input.

Additionally, If elected, Assembly candidate Gluck plans to demand from elected officials on all levels of government a full and complete re-valuation on their proposal to force a massive unfenced Homeless shelter development complex of 1,100 rooms with the entrance being on Albany Avenue between Winthrop St and Clarkson Ave, which will all but destroy the lives of the local residents in that area, most of whom are lifelong African American families which is a civil rights discrimination tactic targeting black and brown residents, the elected officials would never allow this sort of project to be placed in a white area like Park Slope.

According to Ahron, the NY state owned land at Kingsboro Psychiatric consisting of 599/681/781 Clarkson Ave and 691/681 Albany Ave which currently has the Vital Brooklyn proposal for the infamous “Mega homeless shelter,” would be much better developed for a business headquarter hub for local black entrepreneurs, a recreation center, park or other communal facility. Something local black residents never got a chance to voice their opinion on because they were silenced by the elected officials.

2. Protecting Community Interests

Issues such as public safety, security for Jewish institutions, support for yeshivas, quality-of-life enforcement, and neighbourhood stability by allocating funding to improve the district instead of the current situation where funding is allocated to build more homeless shelters destroying the neighborhood, matter deeply to Crown Heights residents. If elected as Assemblyman, Ahron will actively vote and bring these concerns into Democratic party discussions on all levels of government and advocate for leadership that understands the needs of the community.

3. Strengthening Relationships Across Communities

Crown Heights is unique in its diversity. Maintaining strong working relationships with neighboring communities is essential to preserving stability and mutual respect. The vision includes building practical partnerships with other neighborhood leaders to reduce tensions and increase cooperation on shared concerns like safety, sanitation, parking, and local services.

4. Encouraging Civic Participation

Increasing participation by having a voice from the Jewish community ensures that our priorities are reflected in the Democratic Party and government decisions before the next proposals affecting the district.

5. Pro- Eretz Yisroel Democratic Engagement

For the Jewish voters in Crown Heights, support for Israel is an important issue. Ahron’s vision for Assembly includes ensuring that Democratic Party leadership in Albany reflects mainstream pro-Israel values while maintaining respectful dialogue within the broader coalition.

6. We Don’t Have To Live Like This In CH

In past elections, our Askonim were forced like sheep to “endorse/support” over and yet over again the very same politicians who allow Crown Heights/East Flatbush to become NYC’s ground zero dumping ground for dozens of Homeless shelters, because those politicians were going to win anyways with or without our votes. Now is different we finally have enough votes for a Yid to win Assembly (and Congress which also has Flatbush and Boro Park Jews included in our CH Congressional district)

Our assemblyman Brian Cunningham, is a very nice person and super friendly with our community, but comforting words is just that—all talk. Cunningham’s policies and action goes against our community, he proudly attended the ground breaking of one of the Homeless shelters on Clarkson Ave, which his office helped allocate funding for, we are dealing with progressive leftists elected officials who truly believe in their heart that more homeless shelters benefits our district.

Ahron Gluck is volunteering his time to lead the political fight for the community, the best way to help is by starting your own voter registration drive on your block, building, Shul or other group so that everyone within your circle are registered Democrats so they can vote in the Democratic primary for a Yid. It will be very important that we have someone from our community who can represent us and make our voices heard.

By the 2022 Democrat primary, which was a non-presidential primary just like this year will be, the Total voter turnout for our district was 11,237 votes. Although that year there was a highly contested Gubernatorial primary (which brought out even more votes) and this year there is Not. The highest estimate is 15,000 voters will turnout in our district during this primary. All that is needed for a Jewish candidate to win is 7,500 votes which is well within reach for the Lubavitcher community if every eligible member of anash that will be turning 18 years or older, including Chabad Americans originally from out of town but currently live in Crown Heights are registered to vote as a Democrat.
