As thousands of guests arrive in Crown Heights for Tishrei, a community initiative led by Sam Stern is once again working to keep the streets of the Rebbe’s neighborhood clean.
A private cleaning crew will be out on Kingston Avenue every morning throughout the month, helping maintain the cleanliness of one of Crown Heights’ busiest streets during the Yomim Tovim.
The initiative was launched in 5781, when the large influx of guests and increased foot traffic created an added strain on regular street-cleaning services. Following strong support from residents, the effort was expanded beyond Tishrei, with plans to continue regular cleaning throughout the year.
The project is overseen by a community committee including Rabbi Moshe Pinson, Sam Stern and Ari Minkowitz.
