    Moshiach’s times: Currently, patients in need of a heart or liver must wait in a long line until a donor agrees to provide one, and the cost of the transplant is exorbitant.

    However, one of the most respected science journals, the MIT Technology Journal, recently took a hard look at how scientists may soon be capable of producing hearts, livers, and other crucial body-parts, inside lab-like conditions.

    From the MIT Technology Journal: “Braving a funding ban put in place by America’s top health agency, some U.S. research centers are moving ahead with attempts to grow human tissue inside pigs and sheep with the goal of creating hearts, livers, or other organs needed for transplants.”

    Implications of this research are enormous in terms of cutting wait times and costs, and of course, saving countless lives, but especially for Jews whom the Torah effectively bars from donating bodily organs.
