A man was arrested on Tuesday morning after pulling a knife on some Yeshiva students who insisted he return an item he had stolen earlier that day. Quick thinking students and Shmira volunteers were able to intervene and keep the situation from escalating.
On Tuesday morning, a man was arrested after pulling a knife on some Yeshiva students who insisted he return an item he had stolen earlier that day. According to witnesses, the man had taken a coat from the Yeshiva at around 7:20 am and was seen wearing it later that morning.
The owner of the coat and his friends confronted the man and asked him to return the stolen item. They began following him to the door of the Shul when the thief pulled out a knife and began threatening them.
Thankfully, nearby onlookers heard the commotion and called Shmira volunteers, who were able to quickly intervene and restrain the man until the police arrived. The NYPD then placed the perpetrator under arrest.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being vigilant and taking action when seeing suspicious behavior. It’s also thanks to the quick thinking of the students and Shmira volunteers that a dangerous situation was able to be diffused before anyone was hurt.
