In A Massive Logistical Operation, Another 1000 Bunk Beds Arrive in Crown Heights

The hanhala of Eshel-Hachnosas Orchim anticipated the great numbers of guests who would be coming for Succos – Shnas Hakhel. They knew that the thousands of beds they had stored away would not suffice for the crowds coming for Tishrei this year, and they ordered 1000 additional new bunk beds with mattresses and whatever else is needed. (This is in addition to the thousands of beds from previous years that were already given out to guests.)
Like everything in kedusha, there were delays with the bed shipment that left from Mexico and traveled many hundreds of miles to the United States. In the end, after much effort, the beds arrived at peak time, erev Succos.
On the very day that hundreds of families arrived, men, women, and children, so did the beds. Despite how late it was, about three hours before Yom Tov, Eshel-Hachnosas Orchim arranged a large staff to receive the beds and transfer them to the guests’ quarters. The first night of Yom Tov, hundreds of guests were already able to sleep on the new beds.
Eshel-Hachnosas Orchim’s expenses this year, Shnas Hakhel, are greater than other years. Just the shipment of these beds cost more than $150,000. That’s in addition to the huge expenses entailed in preparing thousands of meals, morning and evening, every day. The total costs are close to a million dollars.
The guests, as everyone can see, don’t stop coming. Every day, hundreds more people land and Eshel seeks to provide everyone with plentiful food, as befits guests of the king. In order to succeed, Eshel needs the help of all Chabad Chassidim and we lovingly call upon all of you:
