The World Headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch — 770 Eastern Parkway — reopened to Mispalelim and visitors on Thursday morning, just hours after a vehicle repeatedly struck the building’s rear entrance on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred during the Yud Shevat events marking 75 years since the Rebbe’s nesius. At the time, thousands of Chassidim and guests were present in and around the building. Baruch Hashem, no injuries were reported.
Damage was caused to the rear entrance of the building.
The New York Police Department confirmed that its Hate Crimes Task Force is involved in the investigation to determine whether the incident was motivated by antisemitism. The NYPD Commissioner arrived at the scene last night and stated that security around Jewish institutions throughout the city would be increased.
