The seemingly never-ending saga of the legal battle continues over the management of 770. The clerk of the New York State Court of Appeals announced today that the judges rejected the request to evacuate the Mispa’alim (worshipers) and Gabboim from 770, until a verdict is reached.
This is another chapter in the long saga that has been ongoing for the past twenty years in different courts with conflicting rulings as to who is the proper side to manage the Shul.
As a refresher, in Iyar 5780, Justice Harriet L. Thompson of the Kings County Surrogate’s Court – who has since been dismissed from her position due to allegations of corruption – ruled that the authority over 770 Eastern Parkway belongs to the petitioners ‘Agudas Chasidei Chabad’.
After learning the verdict, The legal team headed by Edward S. Rudofsky, representing the gabbaim and the mispallelim decided to appeal it to a higher court and a few month ago, the appeal was submitted in a document of over a hundred pages, in which the lawyers demand that the court recognize that the gabbaim and mispallelim maintain the right to occupy and manage the shul as the Rebbe MH”M originally intended.
The meaning of these things is that the Shul will now continue to be run by the the gabbaim and the mispallelim, and Bezh”h the right to occupy and manage the shul as the Rebbe MH”M originally intended.
