Disclaimer 1: This article is in no way trying to be insensitive to anyone.

Disclaimer 2: I am not a life insurance broker.

This past week has been a very devastating week in Lubavitch. Three young men in their 40’s with families have passed away. It hurts to the core; I am not in my 40’s however, I have a wife and children and it is extremely painful.

Then, I opened a website, and I saw a campaign to raise money; please don’t get me wrong it’s the right thing, needs to be done and everyone should give as much as they could. My question is did he have life insurance (I am not referring in a case where unfortunately a person cannot get for health reasons).

How much will a campaign raise 200k-250k? Firstly 250k is not enough, how long will that last, secondly a person can get a policy of 250k depending on age for as little as $25 a month. So if someone gets a policy at 25 for 30 years he will pay a total of $9000 over 30 years.

And for those that will say Hashem will provide or that you should have faith and trust in Hashem…

Let me ask you the following?

    1. Do you have car insurance? Yes I know it’s mandatory but is the coverage the bare minimum?
    2. Do you have home/renters insurance? (If you don’t you should get).
    3. Do you clean out your bank accounts before going to sleep and say Hashem will provide for tomorrow?

Hashem gave us a tool called life insurance to provide for families in – Rachmana Litzlan – tragic situations like the ones mentioned above. We need to be responsible people and take advantage of this tool.

Let us not be like the person that is drowning and someone comes by with a boat to rescue him and he refuses help saying Hashem will help than a helicopter comes and he again refuses saying Hashem will help, than he drowns and he comes to Shomayim and asks Hashem I had such faith in you why did you let me down and Hashem says what are you talking about I sent you 2 messengers…

May hashem bless everyone with Arichas Yomim V’shanim Tovim –

Please don’t postponed or procrastinate and get life insurance today, this is how a responsible husbaband and father takes care of his family.

I totally agree. My husband was niftar and B.H. he did have life insurance. I don’t want to think about how difficult life would have been without. The adjustment was hard enough for the children and me anyway. I thank Hashem constantly that I can pay my bills and am not dependent on Tzedaka.

My heart goes out to the new widows and orphans. May we all merit eternal life with Moshiach now, and be reunited with our departed family members.
