In the afternoon of Yud Alef Nissan, Westchester County Executive Mr. George Latimer issued a special Proclamation bestowing Westchester’s highest honor upon the Rebbe.

In his Proclamation, County Executive Latimer salutes the Rebbe’s global leadership, and the Rebbe’s 4000 Chabad Houses in more then one hundred countries around the world. Together with the Rebbe’s emissaries they serve as “Centers of Light and Illumination”.

The County Executive highlights the Rebbe’s call to action for all citizen of the world Moshiach Is On His Way and to prepare for Moshiach by increasing in acts of goodness and kindness. Hastening the Biblical promised era of universal peace and harmony, between mankind and between nations.

Mr. Latimer proudly recalled how he would join for many years the celebrations honoring the Rebbe’s birthday with the Lubavitch Youth Organization while serving as a member of the New York State Assembly in Albany, the Capital of New York.

The County Executive on behalf of all Westchester County citizens put a dollar bill into the new silver Charity Box which wad was presented to him by Rabbi Velvl Butman, Executive Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Westchester County. The charity giving fulfills the Rebbe’s message regarding the purpose of money, as the dollar bill states, In G-d We Trust. “An eye which sees and an ear which hears”.

Mr. Latimer was inspired by the Rebbe’s message of the dollar bill and his new silver Charity Box is now prominently placed on his desk.

Mr. Latimer expressed his gratitude for the book Towards A Meaningful Life, especially the chapters on Leadership, Government and Education.

The County Executive is proud to continue the tradition of 28 years which Rabbi Butman began in 1994 with Mr. Latimer’s three predecessors, who each issued Proclamations in honor of the Rebbe.
