The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that it will incorporate Holocaust education into its national curriculum.
This marks a historic move, as the UAE becomes the first Arab state to do so. The decision follows the signing of the Abraham Accords, a peace agreement between the UAE, Israel, and the United States.
The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se), an Israeli non-governmental organization (NGO) that monitors the content of school textbooks, worked with the UAE Education Ministry to develop a curriculum framework.
Marcus Sheff, CEO of IMPACT-se, remarked on the UAE’s leadership in promoting peace and tolerance education in the region. Al Nuaimi, a member of the UAE Federal National Council, emphasized the importance of remembering the victims of the Holocaust.
