As Pesach preparations begin, Bnei Brak Chief Rabbi Harav Yitzchok Isaac Landau was seen drawing Mayim Shelanu, the specially prepared water used for baking matzah, in accordance with the meticulous Minhagim preserved in the Landau family for generations.
The Minhagim date back to the era of the Rebbe Rashab and continues the practices upheld by his grandfather, Harav Yaakov Landau A”H, and his father, Harav Moshe Landau A”H.
Participating in the drawing were several Rabbanim and community figures, including his son, Harav M.M. Landau; his son-in-law, Rabbi Shmaya Hecht, Shliach in Jaffa; Harav Ofer Midovnick, Mashpia in Yeshivas Chasidei Chabad Lubavitch Tzfas; his son, chassidic philanthropist R’ Shneur Midovnick; and his son-in-law, baal chesed R’ Eliyahu Dineri of Kfar Chabad.
The drawing of Mayim Shelanu is traditionally performed well ahead of Pesach and with great care, as part of the detailed preparations to ensure the highest standards of kashrus and hiddur for matzah baking ahead of Yom Tov.
