For Sukkos, hundreds of children, young and old, attended the Lulav & Etrog Workshop where everyone learned how prepare and use the Arba Minim to bring the spirit of this precious tradition into their lives and homes.
The traveling Sukkos workshop travels to Yeshivas and Hebrew schools of all backgrounds, bringing a hands-on experience as they touch, smell and taste the Etrog, Lulav, Hadasim and Aravot.
Older children are given the chance to pick their own perfect etrog and lulav. Once proficient at braiding a lulav holder or tying lulav bands, children gather the hadassim and aravot with the etrog and say the brochos over the four kinds. Then everyone does the lulav dance, practicing the motions of hoshaanos while waving the daled minim. Once finished they store the Lulav sets away in their personalized cases to take home. The children look forward to sharing the mitzvah with other family members, neighbors and friends.
After a short quiz, students can qualify to also win a decorative olive wood Etrog box or etrog sapling to keep. Every year the Tzivos Hashem traveling workshops features this and other popular workshops, supplying hundreds of children with a Sukkos set that is truly their own.
“For many of these children, this is the first time in many generations that family’s have personally experienced this important mitzvah of Sukkos,” said Rabbi Michoel Albukerk, who also runs the Shofar Factory and other Tzivos Hashem traveling crafts workshops. “I only wish we had more time between Rosh Hashana and Sukkos.”
