More than 200 people ushered in the Chassidic new year at a farbrengen, a Chassidic celebration, at the Yeshiva Centre of Sydney, Australia earlier this week.
The farbrengen was a celebration of Kislev 19, the Hebrew date that the founder of the Chabad Lubavitcher movement Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi was released from prison in l8th century Russia.
Perth Rabbi and Chabad Shaliach Rabbi Shalom White who addressed farbrengen attendees, highlighted the importance of the individual and how one must not get carried away with quantity only but must also focus on quality.
Rabbi White also shared some sermon advice He once received from a senior Rabbi: Think of an individual in your crowed and focus on providing that person with a solution to their current situation, in a discreet way. very often you’ll find that in addition to that person thanking you for answering their issues, there will be many others who will also benefit from your advice.
Event attendees participated in a long night of singing, dancing, praying and learning, culminating in White sharing his experiences and wisdom.
The proceedings were opened and chaired by Rabbi Pinchus Feldman OAM, Dean and spiritual Leader of the Yeshiva Centre and Shliach to New South Wales.
With special thanks to our anonymous sponsors: Food was catered by Milas Catering, Pictures by Noel Kessel, Music by the Niasoff Band. Special assistance was received from staff at Our Big Kitchen and Student of the Yeshiva Gedola Rabbinical College. The function was organised by Rabbi Elimelech Levy, Director of Chabad Youth NSW.
