ZAKA teams have been operating for several days under extremely difficult conditions, assisting local authorities with recovery efforts and the handling of the deceased. Their work is being carried out in full coordination with Swiss police, rescue, and security forces, with the support of Israel’s Ambassador to Bern, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Mr. Tibor Shalev-Schlosser, as well as the Shliach of The Rebbe and Rabbi of Crans-Montana, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Pevzner, together with his father, the Chief Rabbi of Geneva, Rabbi Mendel Pevzner.
Two of the three missing individuals—local Jewish sisters—have been located, while an Israeli citizen remains missing, and efforts to locate her are continuing.
ZAKA Europe Commander and on-site team leader Nachman Dikstein said: “We arrived at a very complex and difficult scene, with bodies that are hard to identify and injured individuals hospitalized in serious condition. We are working together with the local authorities, not only on behalf of Jewish families but for every person affected by this disaster. Our presence here is being met with great appreciation by both officials and civilians, and we will continue to assist as needed.”
