Following Israel’s closure of its airspace after strikes on Iran, Arkia announced Sunday that it will operate special round-trip flights between Athens and Taba, Egypt. The flights, in cooperation with Electra Airways and using Airbus A320 aircraft, allow passengers to cross overland via the Taba border into Israel or depart Israel for onward travel.

One-way fares start at $359, with carry-on bags priced at $20 and checked luggage at $45. Flights are scheduled on March 1 and March 2, 2026, in both directions.

Thousands of Israelis remain stranded abroad following the sudden cancellations. Travelers are exploring alternative land crossings through Egypt and Jordan, and some have turned to private sailings from Cyprus at costs of around $1,600 per person.

El Al stated that it is preparing rescue flights once approval is granted, prioritizing current ticket holders. No new tickets are being sold through March 21, and passengers affected by cancellations are entitled to refunds or credit vouchers.
