Shluchim to IDF Mark 26 Years Since Their Miraculous Rescue

A moving Farbrengen and Seudas Hoda’ah meal was held on Shushan Purim marking 26 years since the miraculous rescue of brothers Rabbi Menachem Mendel Ofen and Rabbi Shmuel Ofen, Shluchim of the Rebbe serving IDF soldiers and Israeli security forces.
The gathering took place at the home of their father, Mashpia Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Ofen, and was attended by temimim, chassidim, and community members. Throughout the night, soldiers and officers also arrived to participate in the farbrengen.
The event marked the anniversary of the attack that took place on Purim 5760 (2000), when the brothers were traveling to read the Megillah and distribute Mishloach Manos to soldiers near Chevron. At the Tarkumiya checkpoint, they were wounded in a terror attack but, with Hashem’s help, survived and later made a full recovery.
Since then, the brothers have continued their Shlichus among IDF soldiers and security personnel, bringing the Rebbe’s message, organizing Mitzvoim, and strengthening Jewish identity among the troops.
Participants described the farbrengen as uplifting and meaningful, with many good Hachlatos taken to expand the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim among soldiers, especially in light of the current security situation. Attendees also committed to increasing Torah study and the spreading of Chassidus in preparation for the coming of Moshiach.
