    Rabbi Lazar Backs Russian Vaccine

    Rabbi Berel Lazar, Russia’s Chief  Rabbi and Senior Shliach, called on the country’s Jews to get vaccinated with the ‘Sputnik-V’ vaccine, given free of charge in Russia.

    The Russian vaccine drew much skepticism at first due to its extremely rushed released following limited clinical trials. However, following further extensive research, Rabbi Lazar wrote that “we have talked to many doctors and everyone says that the vaccine is completely safe and those who have not yet been vaccinated should hurry up.”

    “Unfortunately, the corona plague has recently risen again and many have infected many families. First, I want to wish them a speedy recovery and we pray for them and really hope that everyone will be able to overcome the disease. I address you with a very important request – get vaccinated against corona, as the law states: Health in any way.

    “It should be remembered that the virus is very dangerous not only for the elderly, but also for people with chronic diseases. For many the disease is mild and almost asymptomatic, but doctors warn that even in this case there may be different consequences and complications, and most importantly keep in mind that asymptomatic patients can

    “And who among us is willing to take such responsibility for the health of his family and environment? I would like to announce that we have talked to many doctors in Russia and abroad – and everyone says unanimously that the vaccine is completely safe and those who have not yet been vaccinated should hurry soon.”

    Criticism of the Russian vaccine in the first few weeks after its approval has recently waned, in part as a result of extensive research published in the British medical journal “The Lancet”, which shows that the vaccine is safe and effective at a rate of 91%.
