A spate of burglaries in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles is under investigation by the city’s police, with kosher restaurants emerging as the apparent focus of the thieves’ attention.

The incidents occurred in the early hours of Shabbos morning within the 9300-9400 block of W Pico Boulevard. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that five eateries were targeted, with some of them sustaining damage to their windows, and cash registers being stolen.

Among the establishments hit were Nagila Pizza, Fisherman’s Bowl, Shanghai Diamond Garden, SushiKo, and Shalom Grill. Though the suspects were described as men dressed in dark attire, the exact number involved remains uncertain.

This isn’t the first time kosher establishments have faced such incidents. In January, a kosher ice cream shop in the Westwood neighborhood experienced vandalism, with five of its windows shattered beyond repair and its cash register containing around $200 stolen. Similarly, an Israeli restaurant in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood had its door vandalized with a swastika in June of the previous year.

The Jewish community in Los Angeles has also faced incidents of violence, including the shooting of two Jewish men leaving shuls in February, leading to hate crime charges filed against the suspect.
