A Lubavitch resident, Ilan Fuchs, has been elected to serve as Mayor of Pomona. He has been serving as a trustee on the Village Board. He is a professor at American Military University and a scholar of international law and legal history.

Fuchs has been serving as a trustee on the Village Board along with fellow Lubavitch resident of Pomona Mendy Lasker.

Two other Frum men, Joel Grunwald and Raanan Zidile, have been elected to the Pomona Board in the same election.

The winning slate received 471 votes, while 281 voted for mayoral candidate Stephen Katz, and trustees Chris Pulakos and Nicholas Wilson. Current Mayor Ian Banks did not run for another term.

In a video message, Fuchs thanked all those who voted for him and pledged to continue to work for the community.

“We won by a really large majority, thanks to all your help,” he said. “Thanks to the Aibishter for the opportunity to serve the community, and we thank all the men and women who came out to vote.”
