Amid ongoing hostilities in “Operation Shagat HaAri,” MK Tzvi Sukkot, Chair of the Knesset Education Committee, has called for urgent measures to protect Jewish institutions worldwide.

Sukkot addressed his request to MK Boaz Bismuth, Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, demanding an immediate parliamentary discussion on Israel’s preparedness to safeguard Jewish communities abroad, with a particular emphasis on Chabad Houses.

“Chabad Houses are central hubs for Jewish life, community support, and spiritual guidance,” Sukkot stated. “This visibility also makes them potential targets for terrorist organizations seeking revenge against Jews due to ongoing hostilities with Israel.”

The call for increased protection comes in the wake of a wave of online antisemitism following incendiary claims by U.S. media figures Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens. Both commentators falsely suggested that the Chabad movement is secretly directing Israel’s military operations and targeting Islamic holy sites. Shluchim have reported receiving threatening messages, highlighting the real-world dangers that such rhetoric can spark.

In his letter, Sukkot highlighted that Iran often directs attacks through its international proxy networks, targeting Jewish and Israeli institutions worldwide when it seeks to retaliate against Israel.

He requested that the discussion include briefings from Israel’s security services, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant authorities on current protective measures, as well as coordinated steps with other nations to prevent potential attacks.

“Israel has a duty to do everything possible to ensure the safety of Jewish communities globally,” Sukkot emphasized. “At times like these, it is essential to make clear: Israel stands with every Jew, wherever they are, and will act decisively to protect them.”

Despite the heightened risks and online harassment, Chabad Shluchim emphasize that their work continues unabated. Across the globe, Shluchim are maintaining their programs, delivering religious services, community support, and educational initiatives, demonstrating resilience and dedication. As they have repeatedly stressed, no amount of threats will deter their mission to strengthen Jewish life and ensure that the community remains united and connected to Hashem.
