This past Motzei Shabbos on a cool, early winter evening the annual event commemorating Rosh Chodesh Kislev was held in the Lubavitch Yeshiva Ketana of London.
As many as 200 members of Anash, bochurim and members of the general London Jewish community flocked to the lavish melava malkah, which was elegantly prepared and arranged by the Shluchim of the Yeshivah Gedolah.
People entering were greeted with the beautiful sounds of niggunim and as they sat down to a fruit hors d’oeuvre the official program began.
Opening remarks were heard from Mashpia Rabbi Mendel Gordon of the Yeshiva Gedolah, followed with Rabbi Sufrin who lead the recital of the Rebbes Kapitel in Tehillim.
Participants were served with the first course of fish and soup as Rabbi Leibish Heller enthralled the crowd with Divrei Torah and words of chizzuk.
As plates were cleared a video was presented showing clips of the Rebbe, glimpses into the scenes that took place during the first Rosh Chodesh Kislev and concluding with a recount by the famed Dr Ira Weiss.
As the lights adjusted and dessert was served Rabbi Yossi Chazan, a guest speaker who came in for the occasion spoke. The crowd was enthralled with many inspirational anecdotes and Torah sources to express his message of how the Rebbe is still leading us and blessing us in a miraculous manner. Benching followed with a farbrengen that continued until the wee hours of the morning.
In honor of the event a special book was re-edited and reprinted by the Yeshivah Gedolah Shluchim entitled “The Rebbe Revealed”-a diary from a Chossid during the year leading up to the Rebbe accepting the nessius-The original had been compiled twenty years earlier by the the Shluchim to the Yeshivah.
The event was generously funded by the Shluchim of Yeshiva Gedolah Lubavitch, Beis Hamedrash Kingsley Way, Heichal Menachem, Beis Gavriel and Yeshiva Ketana Lubavitch.
A Special thank you must be given to Rabbi Chazan for making the event so memorable.
May we be zoche to celebrate the true joy of Rosh Chodesh Kislev, seeing the Rebbe with us once again with the coming of Moshiach immediately.
