According to a senior Israeli official, one of the main options now under serious consideration is the formal annexation of the “perimeter zone”—a security buffer established by the IDF along the Gaza Strip since the start of the war. The message was reportedly delivered to mediators on Wednesday and reflects growing Israeli impatience with Hamas’ continued intransigence.
This warning follows the conclusion of Operation Gidon’s Chariots, which, despite its intensity, did not succeed in breaking the deadlock over the hostages. With Hamas refusing to come to terms despite overwhelming military and humanitarian pressure, the Israeli defense establishment is weighing a series of decisive alternatives, including:
