The Israeli army ordered a mass evacuation from much of Khan Younis today, a sign that troops are likely to launch a new ground assault in the Gaza Strip’s second largest city.
Israel says it’s in the final stages of the Rafah operation.
Last week, the military also ordered Palestinians up north in Gaza City to evacuate from the Shijaiyah neighborhood, where there has since been intense fighting.

According to the IDF, soldiers from the Commando Brigade, the 401st Armored Brigade, and the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit raided an Islamic Jihad compound and an underground site in the northwestern Tel Sultan neighborhood of Rafah.
The troops uncovered an underground facility used by Islamic Jihad to produce rocket parts and long-range rockets, the IDF reports.
