Israel Raises Canada Travel Alert to Level 2 Amid Rising Threats and Antisemitic Protests

The Israeli National Security Council (NSC) has upgraded its travel advisory for Canada from Level 1 to Level 2, citing a spike in attacks, inflammatory rhetoric, and scheduled anti-Jewish protests in major Canadian cities • Read More

According to a statement released Sunday, Israeli officials pointed to a pattern of growing hostility targeting Jewish communities and Israeli nationals. Over the past year and a half, Jewish institutions across Canada have been subjected to violent incidents including shootings, Molotov cocktail attacks, and direct threats.

The NSC has urged Israelis currently in Canada or planning travel to the country to exercise increased caution. Travelers are advised to remain alert, particularly in the vicinity of demonstrations or crowded public spaces.

The advisory highlights planned anti-Israel protests set to take place on May 25 in Toronto and Waterloo. These demonstrations are expected to coincide with pro-Israel rallies, prompting fears of potential clashes. Officials warned that the rhetoric surrounding these events has become increasingly radicalized, with some statements bordering on incitement to violence.

Israelis attending public events are strongly encouraged to follow the instructions of local law enforcement and security personnel and to avoid confrontations with protesters.

Still, as Chassidus teaches, a Yid walks with strength and confidence. We do not fear, bend, or bow—because we know that “Hinei lo yanum velo yishan Shomer Yisrael”. Wherever a Jew finds himself, even in a place that feels spiritually or physically threatening, he is surrounded by Divine protection. Our role is to stand tall with Jewish pride, to increase in light and Mitzvos, and to remember that Hashem watches over each of us with love and care.

The NSC emphasized that safety remains a top priority and directed travelers to consult the official NSC website for updated guidance and security recommendations.
