Thanks to the Boulder Fire Department, Chanukah gelt rained down on the large crowd in front of the Boulder County Courthouse Monday night as the Jewish community celebrated the second night of Chanukah by lighting a giant menorah.

Despite it being late December, the weather was clear and relatively warm for the last Chanukah of the Two-Thousand-Teens (and the first of the Fifty-seven-Eighties) and as a result, one of the largest crowds in memory celebrated the menorah lighting on the Pearl St. Mall.

This year’s Boulder Lamplighters were long-time community members and supporters Bruce and Rhonda Wildman.

Steve Brodsky provided musical entertainment, and there were latkes, sufganyot, coffee and hot chocolate, and of course, Chanukah gelt for the revelers.

Chanukah on Pearl was organized by Boulder County Center for Judaism, directed by Rabbi and Mrs. Pesach Scheiner.
