The Shluchim of the State of Florida came together to thank the president of the United States, President Donald Trump, for commuting the unjust sentence of Rabbi Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin. They put a full-page ad in the Miami Herald, one of the largest newspapers in South Florida.
By the grace of G-d
On behalf of millions of supporters of Justice throughout Florida and the United States, thank you PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP for commuting the sentence of Sholom Rubashkin, correcting a terrible injustice and a stain on our great country’s justice system!
With this gracious act of clemency, you have demonstrated courage, compassion, wisdom and common sense not so common in today’s day and age. You are a true leader!
As you know, for the last eight years there has been a massive outcry about Mr. Rubashkin’s outrageously unfair sentence, as well as a number of allegations of misconduct before, during, and after his trial. Every former living Attorney General prior to Eric Holder decried this draconian sentence. This is unprecedented! Furthermore, Congressman and Senators from both sides of the aisle, dozens of other former DOJ officials – including Deputy Attorneys General, FBI Directors, US Attorneys and Assistant US Attorneys, legal scholars, federal judges AND THOUSANDS of American citizens around the country rallied together to call for Mr. Rubashkin’s release from prison. But only YOU, Mr. President, heard their call for justice!
The unprecedented bipartisan support and unity across all branches of government to maintain a fair justice system and correct this injustice sends a clear message: The United States believes in one G-d and the ‘seven Noahide laws’ of universal morality.
Thankfully, President Trump has righted a wrong by granting a commutation to Mr. Rubashkin during the holiday of Chanukah. By doing so, you have shown that there is no place for injustice, discrimination or unfairness in our legal system in the United States. by this act we can be confident that equal rights exist for all people of all religions, races and ethnicities.
For this, we, the 235 Chabad Rabbis in Florida, express our heartfelt gratitude to President Donald J. Trump! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
