According to the IDF, the soldiers engaged in close-range combat after several terrorists infiltrated the brigade’s defensive position. The attackers placed two explosive devices on a tank from the 82nd Battalion, and an additional face-to-face firefight ensued with small arms. In the course of the encounters, five soldiers were seriously wounded.
Two of the five terrorists were confirmed eliminated in the area — one by tank fire and another in close combat with battalion forces. A pursuit is underway for the three remaining terrorists who fled the scene.
In addition, six more soldiers sustained light injuries during the evacuation. All the wounded were evacuated to the hospital, and their families have been notified.
