26 Years Later, Brunoy Alumni Gather

Celebrated on the occasion of the 26th anniversary, the bochurim who once studied at Yeshiva in Brunoy, France in 1997, gather for a nostalgic farbrengen to reminisce about their cherished yeshiva days • Photos

Twenty-six years have passed since the Shiur Aleph class of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Brunoy, France sat together, engrossed in their studies. Last Wednesday, their beloved maggidei shiurim and this group joyfully reunited within the walls of their long-gone Yeshiva building.

During this year’s Kinus Hashluchim in Crown Heights, some of the students gathered for a mini Hakhel, sparking the idea to unite all their old classmates for a grand Hakhel back in their original school in Brunoy.

One of the alumni who participated gathered at the mini Hakhel, told ChabadInfo, about the atmosphere and the emotional moment:

“Indeed, with divine providence, and in honor of the year of Hakel, the former students of Shiur Aleph organized, together with Rabbi Shmuel Brodovich, a class reunion gathering in our beloved Yeshiva in Brunoy.”

On Tammuz 9, at noon, they gathered in the Yeshiva’s courtyard and attended a captivating Chassidus class led by Rabbi Zalman Segal. The shiur delved into the topics of “avodas habirurim” and “avodas hanisyonos” with profound insights and accompanied by inspiring stories of chassidim. The atmosphere resembled a spirited farbrengen.

In anticipation of the evening, they all gathered in the hall of Shiur Aleph, joining the maggidei shiurim for a joyous banquet. The room brimmed with mutual delight and excitement. The maggidei shiurim were overjoyed to see and sit with their former students, while the students relished the opportunity to reconnect with their mashpiim and teachers. The mashpiim spoke about the enduring bond between the students and Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim, highlighting how each alumnus, in their respective fields, continues to strive to fulfill the will of the Rebbeim, the founders of the Yeshiva. The farbrengen carried on until the early hours of the night.

The event brought together esteemed individuals, including the Yeshiva’s Directors, Rabbi Yitzchak Nemenov and Rabbi Mendel Gurevich, Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yechiel Kalmenson, Directors of the Yeshiva Ketana, Rabbi Yoel Edelman and Rabbi Shmuel Brodovich, as well as the mashpiim and maggidei shiurim, Rabbi M. M. Abrams, Rav David Forst, Rabbi Nachum Pinson, and Rabbi Shmuel Frankel.

As a lasting memento, each participant received a magnificent book on the work of the Rebbe by the renowned writer, Rabbi Shlomo Brodovich.
