Although three years of ongoing tension have left their mark, the festival of Pesach was celebrated across Ukraine—in hundreds of locations and by tens of thousands—with a strong sense of freedom, hope, and Jewish pride.

Special security precautions enabled organized public Seder events, participated by more than 14,500 people; special kosher for Pesach food parcels distributed to 15,000 families and individuals; and 37,044 KG of Matzah from Israel.

In collaboration with community rabbis and Chabad Shluchim, the Jewish Relief Network Ukraine (JRNU), the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC) operational arm in Ukraine, conducted hundreds of festive Pesach Seder events across the country, in both major cities and remote villages, ensuring that despite the situation, every Jewish family would be able to celebrate in joy and dignity.

Additionally, tremendous efforts were made to equip 17,000 Jewish families and individuals with everything required to properly and joyfully celebrate Pesach . Pesach kits and kosher for Pesach food parcels, including handmade Shmurah Matzah—generously provided by the Werdiger family—machine Matzah from Israel, wine, grape juice, Haggadah booklets, fish, meat, and many other necessities, were directly delivered to the homes of Jews and JCCs across the entire country.

“After all they have gone through, the Jews of Ukraine deserve to celebrate and truly feel free on Pesach ,” says an FJC activist. “It was very exciting and emotional to meet and see the smiles and tears of the recipients as they received the Matzah and food parcels. They expressed their heartfelt thanks and couldn’t conceal their emotions.”
