On the 19th of shevat the 8th of February, the dynamic Shaliach Rabbi Chay Amar of Chabad of golden Beach initiated the writing of a new Sefer Torah in memory of Mr. James Perez who was the very beloved Chazan of the community.
This Sefer Torah is dedicated by the children and parents – mainly those that learned to read form the Chazan.
This Chazan would take a child that was not able to read Hebrew and teach him to read the Torah with the notes, in no time.
His passing at a premature age was a shock for everyone. He is now very much missed by all.
The writing of the first letters were with mixed feelings of happiness for the Mitzvah and a heavy heart as his seat was empty near the Holy Ark.
The Sofer Rabbi David Cohen is providing the Sefer Torah and came in from Montreal to write the first letters and MC the event.
There was electricity in the air, young and old from all ages participated and the Simcha was truly a kidoush Ha-shem.
Yehi Zichro Barouch. May his memory be blessed and may he be a Melits Yosher and demand Moshiach now.
May Moshiach come now and (James Perez) Yaish Shimon ben Zohara will be with us in flesh and blood for the Sefer Torah inauguration, Amen.
