The Chabad Yeshiva of Ramat Aviv, Israel directed by Rabbi Yosef Ginsburg, hosted the first-ever “Ba’al Teshuva Boot Camp” for tens of Israelis who discovered their Judaism in the Tourist Chabad Houses across Central America: Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama.
The idea is modeled after the successful Yeshivacation program in the USA, and adapted by the first Shliach to Israeli tourists in the Caribbean, Rabbi Dudi Caplin, Chabad Shliach to Cozumel, Mexico.
The young adults spent a few days in the Yeshiva, studying intensely with the Yeshiva staff, and getting crash courses in the basic of Jewish life, and Chassidic behavior.
When Shabbos rolled around, over 40 Israelis joined the existing students for a “Yeshiva Shabbos” learning the Rebbe’s Sichos, participating in Farbrengens, enjoying an authentic Seder Nigunim, and enjoying the atmosphere of the Yeshiva.
For most of them, it was their first time in a Yeshiva, and this experience was an eye-opener, inspiring and elating, with some of them deciding to join the Yeshiva for the next semester, or just visit once a week.
The immense success of the program encouraged the Shluchim to start planning the next event, which will aim to attract a larger amount of Israelis, instilling in them the love of G-d, his Torah, and the Rebbe.
